Pros and cons of Trainboard Philadelphia for SEPTA Regional Rail app for iPhone and iPad
Trainboard Philadelphia for SEPTA Regional Rail app good for
The icon alone would be worth 5 stars :-) Great for iPod Touch users that it works offline. Minus 1/4 star for not being able to actually teleport you where you want to go, so you dont have to ride Septa in the first place.
Now I dont have to go to the Septa website to scry for info. Some additional functions would be nice. People generally take the same route and it would be nice to restrict the station views to that route. Push functionality for when the trains are late would be cool too. But that being said, this app is a winner.
This app was put together pretty well and could be great with a few tweaks. As another reviewer mentioned, the app is pretty much useless to me when catching a train @ suburban or market east unless I know my trains schedule ahead of time. My suggestion is to add a feature where you can select your regional line or even add it as a favorite. Also, if it isnt realistic to add real time data for more that a few trains, there should be generic schedule info so the user has some idea when the next train is coming. If I could scroll down and find the next r3 this app would be so much better. As it is, I find it useful at times and well worth the buck.
A nice app for keeping track of the regional rail schedules. The UI is a bit spartan, and it would be nice to include other SEPTA services, but if you use Regional Rail frequently youll find this quite useful.
Definitely loving the offline function :D.
You should other means of transportation also though. Buses maybe?
I didn’t understand this app right away but now Ive that I’ve had it for a few weeks; I find myself using it all of the time, its very reliable! I was standing in front of the live schedule board (whatever you call it) at Suburban Street station and I was comparing this application with the live board. I have to say, I was very impressed with how accurate this is. If the Suburban Station board read that a train was 5 minutes late, it would also read the same train was 5 min late on this iPhone app. When the live board changed, this application changed accordingly (after it refreshed). If you don’t understand this application right away, cross reference it with iSetpa.org. You will find that this is a great app! - My wish list would be adding what track the train is on (one and a while, on rare occasions, the track does change).
Some bad moments
Looks nice, but no easy way to select a station (unless GPS says youre there already), and no way to filter results from a busy center-city station. For now, stick with iSepta.org
I was really excited to download this app so that I could know if my train was running late and when its scheduled to arrive. Well, the scheduled arrival times on here arent even accurate! I missed my train because according to this app it was supposed to arrive at a time that isnt even listed on septas schedule..this wasnt a late arrival either, it was listed as on time, just at the wrong time.. 10 minutes later! Stick to isepta.org.. Free and accurate
Good idea but uses outdated schedules. In serious need of an update. Dont waste your money.
Outdated schedules. Useless. Use septas mobile site "next to arrive" feature-works great for free.
I have the latest iPhone 4 os and loaded the app update. It doesnt launch. Try the new SEPTA mobile appl. More relevant info and free. I had this app for about 1yr. It was always too slow and buggy. For 2.99 I expected more. Disappointing to say the least!
The interface is maddening. At least its location aware, but its slow. Its a roll of the dice whether or not it will work properly when it boots.
Id like it to remember my route - I generally take one train, and I want know departure and arrival time, but this app doesnt show arrival times.
It does show late times though, which is a bonus. I have to say, I end up using isepta.org the most.
